Wine of the Week: Evolve Cellars Effervescence

e·volve ~

verb
develop gradually, especially from a simple to a more complex form
It’s the New Year, for many a time to make resolutions.  I’m not so much a resolution person, more an evolution person.  For YWIW it is a time, both from a New Year point but also from a “Where do we go from here” stance of figuring out the next steps in our evolution.  Fitting thoughts to mull over while drinking a bottle of Evolve Cellars Effervescence.  Look for More BC Wine, More Sparkling and More Local.

Evolve Cellars Effervescence NV –

70% Pinot Blanc, 30% Chardonnay.  Made in the Charmat Method.

Colour – Pale Straw

Nose – Aromatic, pretty nose of sweet summer peach, lots of fresh citrus – lemons and limes.  Notes of minerality and Ambrosia apple, along with subtle hints of lees.

Palate – Delicious creamy bubbly, with flavours of citrus, peach, apple and hints of stones.  Off dry, medium body and flavour intensity.  Good acidity, keeping the wine fresh, finishing with medium length.

What I like about this wine– fresh, delicious, easy drinking, good price point ($20ish).  Perfect week night Sparkling wine, yoga retreat, movie night, and a great partner for Sparkling Wine Cocktails.    What I get excited about this wine – CROWN CAP!  Yeah, baby!  No chance of corked wine, easy to open, gotta love it.  Keeps the wine fresh and fabulous, just the way the winery wants you to enjoy it.

About Evolve Cellars –

Evolve Cellars is part of Encore Vineyards portfolio of brands, which includes TIME Winery and McWatters Collection.  Just outside of Summerland BC, in the South Okanagan, the winery has 5 acres of vineyards overlooking Lake Okanagan.  The Encore team is led by BC Wine Legend Harry McWatters (CEO), with Christa-Lee McWatters-Bond as marketing director, and Lawrence Buhler as director of winemaking.  The wines are made from estate fruit, and fruit sourced from partner growers in the region.  They are bright and fresh, approachable and affordable.

How beautiful is this spot?  Let’s add this to our list of places to visit in the Okanagan this year.
